A visual ethnography project about ethnic music, place, and cultural transformation.

Set in the Wa region of Ximeng, Yunnan, the work follows the musical practice of the Sigangli Band, documenting how traditional Wa music is transformed and continued within a contemporary context. Through the musicians’ daily lives, creative processes, and local experiences, the film explores how regional culture is reinterpreted and expressed in modern society.

I worked as the cinematographer on the project, participating in field shooting and visual documentation. My work focused on the relationship between people, musical practice, and the surrounding environment, contributing to the film’s overall visual language.
